BELVOIR DALE PRIMARY SCHOOL ROCKS HAMLET AT CENTURY THEATRE

Tuesday November 29th marks a significant day in the history of the future of Coalville. Tears were brought to the eyes of an audience of friends and family that watched the children of Belvoirdale Primary taking  to their local stage to perform Hamlet with an accompanying sound track of ‘Madness’

This really was one step beyond !  We were honoured to host such a  spectacle and welcome more groups and schools to do the same.

A very proud Headteacher Mr Dax personally thanked every child and provided them with a memento, and said they could all keep the cool costumes!

Local Film Maker, James Reader from Front Row Films said “‘With it’s themes of courtly intrigue, madness, corruption and revenge, Hamlet is one of the best loved yet most challenging of Shakespeare’s plays. I was amazed and spellbound by a cast of pupils from Belvoir Primary School last night who delivered a shortened version at the Century Theatre under the direction of new Head Teacher, Richard Dax. For pupils of this age to not only understand the play but to be actively engaged and excited by it was nothing short of inspirational. Hopefully this will mark the start of a series of Shakespeare performances by pupils from Belvoir Primary School. Which play is next? Watch this space! Full film coming soon on Coalville Heroes Facebook page”
