Derby Kids Camp

What an awesome bunch of people…Volunteers of all ages creating memories with young people from Derby City.

Nominated by their schools 300+ young people over 5 weeks attend for a week long camp in the incredible Derbyshire country side.

The camp is set up like a village and with spaces to eat sleep, socialise and play. A camp kitchen dishes out three meals a day with a team of volunteers designing menues and cooking up the food with the young people all mucking in serving each other and washing up!

Yesterday the Hero Project were privileged to have been able to join them and provide a few activities including the famous pen racing and creating the fastest ever created swan out of recycled paper… The pictures say it all.

What an inspiration the young people and volunteers were. This is real social action in action

Perhaps something that could be shared with others that have access to public funding to create opportunities for social action !!!

Look forward to doing some more stuff with this charity that has been providing these types of holidays for 34 years.
