Deana Wildgoose and Julia Burkin met in 2015 at a Voluntary & Social Enterprise Forum meeting hosted by North West Leicestershire District Council. Deana and Julia both have an extensive community engagement, bid writing and a proven track record for outcome supported delivery were soon developing nurturing ideas that would see them submitting a ‘Coalville Heroes’ proposal to NWLDC in order to become an active part of the Coalville Project. https://www.nwleics.gov.uk/pages/regenerating_coalville

The Hero Project CIC– we chose to host our activities as a community interest company because we believe in the communities we work in and we believe that people being passionate make fantastic partnerships and it is important to put something back!

The decision to form The Hero Project CIC was a result of our proposals success and the award of an 18-month contract with NWLDC and our desire to make sure we can choose to work with other organisations and charities in the Midlands area.

We have chosen the to look for the ‘heroes’ in the local community and we believe they are all around us, everywhere there are people who are going the extra mile, who do something amazing once, or on a regular basis, heroes are all shapes and sizes, ages and abilities, they don’t all have capes and super powers, so they may be harder to find at times!

At present we are in touch with Food, Future, Heritage and Creative Heroes! We expect there to be a few more groups emerging in the coming weeks!

We have chosen the FiLiGi Foundation to be our nominated charity beneficiary. You can find out more about FiLiGi Foundation here http://www.filigi.org.uk/
