50 Geordie Heroes Project

50 Geordie Heroes — Value Friendliness

Welcome to the Gallery page for the Geordie Heroes Exhibition.

All the Heroes were picked by the groups involved and created between May and August 2018 as part of the Building a Stronger Britain Together Campaign.

They represent a diverse range of people from Stacey a dance school teacher, to William Harbutt the inventor of plasticine to flood wardens, father’s, mum’s and everyday heroes! Over 1500 people visited them and many are still on display in their communities.

They were exhibited at the Globe Gallery for a week at the end of August 2018. From Sunday September 2nd until Friday October 5th they were in the Central Library, Newcastle.

For the ‘finale weekend’ they visited St Marys Heritage Centre Gateshead on October 6th and 7th. Most are now still on display in their communities, some have been recycled with the help of House of Objects and local schools have them to create their own hereos!

The value that received most votes during the exhibition was ‘Friendliness’. Thankyou to everyone for visiting, voting and taking part.

Special thanks to Cal Desmond-Pearson for taking all the photographs. You can download them on pdfs – see links below. Or all the individual heroes are in the gallery below.

FILMS – we hope you enjoy some of the films created … As well as the summaries and the exceptional speakers – there are a couple of little clips of the Heroes going home that are worth watching!!

We hope that you enjoy. Any comments or suggestions please email on info@theheroproject.org.uk
